Jeff Tkach, Chief Impact Officer of Rodale Institute, will succeed Jeff Moyer as CEO.
Rodale Institute announced today that Jeff Tkach has been selected by the board of directors to lead the global nonprofit as its next CEO, effective April 21, 2023. Tkach will succeed Jeff Moyer, who held the Institute’s most senior position since 2019. Moyer will remain CEO until Tkach formally assumes the role in April to facilitate an effective transition in leadership. Moyer will then move on to serve as Rodale Institute CEO Emeritus and continue to support and advise the organization.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we are all thrilled to announce that Jeff Tkach is stepping into the role of CEO,” said Maya Rodale and Roberta Lang, board co-chairs. “In Tkach’s prior role as Chief Impact Officer for Rodale Institute, he has proven to be dedicated to the organization and its mission and a great contributor to its success. The board of directors is confident that he has the vision, experience, and passion necessary to lead the team and the organization into the future.”
“The values and mission of Rodale Institute have served as guiding principles in my personal and professional pursuits for many decades,” said Tkach. “I’m honored to lead the Institute at this pivotal moment in history—when issues surrounding the climate, human health, and the long-term viability of agricultural land require practical solutions from innovative organizations like Rodale Institute. As the Institute’s next CEO, I promise to work like our future depends on it—because it does.”
“I couldn’t be more confident in Jeff Tkach as Rodale Institute’s next CEO,” said Jeff Moyer. “Tkach has a long history of supporting the vision of Rodale Institute and the power of our mission to positively impact the lives of people and our planet. Tkach is a truly passionate leader and is committed to the ways Rodale Institute’s world-renowned research and education on regenerative organic agriculture will improve the world. The Institute has a bright future under Tkach’s leadership.”
Since 2017, Tkach has served as Chief Impact Officer for Rodale Institute. As part of that key leadership position, Tkach was responsible for expanding the Institute’s global influence and developing core strategies and partnerships to drive the nonprofit’s philanthropic and programmatic initiatives.
Prior to Tkach’s role at Rodale Institute, he served as Managing Director and Vice President of Rodale, Inc.’s Organic Life and Prevention, where he oversaw business objectives and strategic operations for both brands. His past professional experience also includes senior roles at Life Time Fitness and Active Interest Media. In addition, he is a former member of the Rodale Institute Board of Directors, where he served from 2016 – 2017.
A Pennsylvania native, Tkach holds a bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University and a postgraduate Authentic Leadership Certificate from Naropa University.
An advocate for mindful leadership, Tkach currently serves on the James Beard Foundation’s Sustainability Advisory Council and is a board member of Reeds’ Organic Farm and the Biophilic Institute. When he’s not advancing the mission of Rodale Institute, Tkach can be found living out that mission through a healthy and regenerative lifestyle.
