About The Biggest Little Farm
The Biggest Little Farm is the critically-acclaimed, award-winning feature documentary, directed by 5-time Emmy-winner John Chester about the epic journey of creating the biodiverse world of Apricot Lane Farms. It was released theatrically nationwide in May 2019, and was followed by a worldwide release in over 30 countries. It won more than 15 festival & critics’ awards, and had the top honor of being shortlisted for an Oscar in 2020.
Even more important than its commercial success, the film has gone on to transform the way the world views a farm’s role to positively impact biodiversity and rebuild soil and ecosystem health. Since its initial release, the film continues to be used in schools all over the world—from secondary through the university level.
In today’s K-12 system, many students lack relatable ways of connecting with science education, and particularly through a lens that connects biodiversity, ecosystem health, farming, food, climate, biology, chemistry and more. With the release of this curriculum, Apricot Lane Farms, American Farmland Trust and Rodale Institute are partnering to change this paradigm.
