Leader In Regenerative Organic Agriculture Receives Regenerative Organic Certification, Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary Of Boiron Medicinal Garden

On Friday, Rodale Institute shared that portions of its headquarters farm and the historic Founder’s Farm are now Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) at the Bronze level. The announcement was made during Rodale Institute’s Annual Organic Field Day on July 18, where hundreds of farmers, researchers, and scientists gathered to explore regenerative organic practices, engage in hands-on learning, and celebrate key milestones in the movement toward a healthy, more resilient food system.

Attendees learned that the grain and apple orchard operations on the main campus are ROC certified, as well as the Founder’s Farm, where JI Rodale launched the Institute’s movement. These certifications reflect the Institute’s leading efforts to meet the highest standards in soil health, animal welfare, and farmworker fairness.

“Achieving the Regenerative Organic Certification is a reflection of our work and a commitment to the future,” said Jeff Tkach, CEO of Rodale Institute. “For over 78 years, Rodale Institute has focused on advancing regenerative organic agriculture through science, education, and research. This certification is a representation of how regenerative practices can heal the land, support farmers, and continue to build a more resilient food system.”

The Bronze level is the first tier in the ROC certification, administered by the Regenerative Organic Alliance, which sets rigorous benchmarks that farms must meet across environmental, social, and animal care pillars. Rodale Institute will now begin pursuing further enhancements needed to advance to higher certification tiers.

The 2025 Organic Field Day also marked the 10th anniversary of the Boirion Medicinal Garden, an educational botanical space located on the Institute’s 386-acre experimental farm. Founded in 2015 with Boiron, a leader in homeopathic medicines, it features an array of therapeutic plants and herbs commonly used in homeopathic medicines.

Throughout the day, attendees explored the Boirion Medicinal Garden in addition to many stations located around the experimental farm. Guests at Field Day learned from experts on topics related to regenerative organic agriculture, watched demonstrations of practices and equipment used in organic crop management, and connected with other like-minded individuals with a passion for organic agriculture.
