Webinar: Electric Livestock Fencing—from Poultry to Cattle

August 27 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
FREE
During this webinar led by our Farm Innovations team, we will focus on designing, installing, and using a variety of styles of portable and semi portable electric fences.
We will begin by looking at maps as a tool for planning your fence outline. We will then look at the variety of fences available to suit the needs of your operation. We will cover poultry netting, 4-5 strand fencing for goats and sheep, 1-2 strand fencing suitable for larger animals, perimeter fencing, subdividing paddocks within your field, 3-D anti deer fencing, grounding, and energizers. We will discuss how to move livestock within fencing and some of the successes and failures we have had here at the Midwest Organic Center as well as in my past career working on a diverse organic farm in Northern California. Finally, we will examine the age-old adage “the best fence is a good pasture.”
