Hazelnut Field Day
November 24 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm PST
FREE
Rodale Institute will host an Organic Hazelnut Field Day on November 24 at our Pacific Northwest Organic Center.
The event will cover topics such as organic pest management, fertility, harvesting, and value-added processes. Farmers and the public are invited to participate in the field walk (weather permitting), discussions, and presentations by experts.
This field day will also highlight our ongoing organic hazelnut agroforestry research, supported by the Edwards Mother Earth Foundation and the Northwest Community Foundation. We have established an orchard with European cultivars (Jefferson, Yamhill, Dorris, Theta) and a native hazelnut species (Corylus cornuta). The project evaluates their performance under organic management and alleycropping systems to improve soil health and system resilience in the Pacific Northwest.
This event is free, but please register so we know you’re coming to get an accurate count for lunch.
