An Organic Workshop & Buyer-Seller Mixer
Join us for an inspiring day of education and connection at Thistlerock Mead Co.—a regenerative apiary and meadery nestled in the heart of Virginia’s foodshed.
This two-part event, supported by the USDA’s Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP), is designed to empower current and transitioning organic farmers, buyers, institutional procurement leaders, gardeners, food systems enthusiasts, and those who are curious about organic production methods.
🌿 Part 1: Organic Educational Workshop for Farmers & Growers
Learn from a dynamic panel discussion from leaders in the regenerative movement about regenerative organic agricultural methods.
The panel discussion will feature:
- Christopher Gergen, CEO, Regenerative Organic Alliance
- Michael Carter Jr., Carter Farms
- Kim Butz, Organic Consultant, Rodale Institute
Following the panel, connect with members of Rodale Institute’s Organic Consulting team for expert guidance on topics ranging from organic certification and market development to soil health and transitioning practices.
🤝 Part 2: Buyer & Seller Mixer
Expect to cultivate valuable partnerships with potential buyers and farmers and enjoy a delicious lunch featuring locally grown organic ingredients.
Meet and build relationships with institutional and regional buyers seeking to source locally grown, organic, and regeneratively produced food. This is a unique opportunity for farmers and growers to network directly with potential purchasers—and for buyers to find new partners committed to soil health and food system resilience.
This event builds on the momentum of the Farm-to-Institution Symposium at the University of Virginia (October 9) and is designed to support the development of thriving regional organic markets. Refreshments and food will be provided.
