Join us at the farm for our 1st annual scarecrow design competition on October 2, 2025.
Flex your creativity this fall with our scarecrow making working and competition, designed for the whole family! Get your kids off of their devices and enjoy some family crafting at our historic bank barn. This workshop will include a cozy fire, marshmallows, and hot chocolate. All entries will be displayed in our corn maze on October 4 at our Fall on the Farm event. All entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded! Contestants may take their scarecrows home after the judging at 12pm on October 4.
This workshop is limited to 10 family groups (there is no limit to the number of family members in each group). Please register below to participate.
Details
Rodale Institute will provide: a wooden base for the scarecrow; hay/straw for stuffing; ribbon; fabric swatches; glue; tools; and a display card that lists the family name and the story of their scarecrow. During the workshop we will also forage for accessories on our farm (wheat, leaves, branches, flowers, etc.).
Each family team must bring: whatever wardrobe items they need to achieve, imagine, and create who their scarecrow character will be (shirt, dress, pants, socks, cape, hat, gloves, shoes, etc.).
Cost: $50 per family
*There is no limit to the number of family members in each group
