Rodale Institute is convening local food growers, processors, and support organizations to discuss how Organic Heritage Corn can be produced and made available to Ventura County residents.

Agenda

8:00-9:00 am: Welcome – Coffee, snacks, and corn equipment demonstration.
9:00-9:30 am: Growing Maiz – How you can grow organic corn for masa in Ventura County.
9:45-10:15 am: Maiz Business – How you can launch a profitable Maiz business (guidance on accessing loans and land).
10:30-11:00 am: Health Resources – A discussion about local health resources for food producers.
11:15-11:45 am: Distribution & Marketing – Guidance on logistics, wholesale opportunities, and contracts for Maiz and masa.
12:00-12:30 am: Legal & Advocacy – Introduction of organizations that support new farm operators’ legal rights.
12:30-1:30 pm: Lunch – Locally prepared organic meal that includes Maiz! Corn seed swap.
All presentations will be live translated into Spanish, Mixtec, and English.
