New opportunities for organic and biodynamic farming

Coach Mark Smallwood retrieves a swarm of honeybees at Rodale Institute.

On August 1, 2013, experts in organic and biodynamic agriculture from Demeter USA, North Carolina State University, Brad’s Raw Chips and Rodale Institute will be presenting on growing Biodynamically in Mills River, North Carolina. Catch our own executive director Coach Mark Smallwood as he talks about healthy soil = healthy food = healthy people and some of our new biodynamic research projects.

The Demeter Biodynamic® Farm Standard captures key agronomic principles not comprehensively addressed within any other agriculture certification system. Presenters will be talking about The Farm Standard, how Biodynamics can lower inputs and create better soil health, and how you can apply it to your farm for a contract to grow kale (and more) for Brad’s Raw Foods!

The event is aimed at all farmers and agricultural organizations supporting farmers through sustainability and will run from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with an optional after-dinner dessert and wine gathering at 8:00 pm.
