Every Friday we share some snaps from our 333-acres in Kutztown, PA. Our photographers? The staff members who keep this farm chugging along. Enjoy a sneak peek at what’s going on here at Rodale Institute!

Rolling cover crops (rye and hairy vetch), planting, and applying organic fertilizer in one step for our nutrient
management research (left). Corn seed planted in the groove cut by the high cultivator during planting (right).
Cover crop biomass collected in a number of small plots allows us to effectively
extrapolate growth across a larger area (left). Dr. Zinati sorts the cover crop biomass to
determine the amount of cover crops and weeds growing at a particular time.
Learning and mentoring is a constant at Rodale Institute. We held a
compost-making class for the Shumei Natural Agriculture garden interns…
…a soil sampling instructional for the Delaware Valley College (DelVal)
Veteran Organic Farming program students and…
…a hands-on training session for laying down plastic mulch for both the research interns and the DelVal students.
