DESCRIPTION:Though our Visitor Center is open year-round\, we invite you to join us as we officially kick off our 2023 season! \nDuring this special event\, guests will have a first look at our new spring arrivals: Rodale Institute branded merchandise\, Fruition Seeds organic seed packs\, Barebones gardening tools (scissors\, trowels\, hoes\, hori horis\, and work gloves)\, Hemlock Goods bandanas in fresh colors and designs\, Seed and Bean organic chocolates\, and much more. Visitors will also be able to peruse our expanded book section\, and kids will enjoy a new gathering area created just for them! \nThere is no admission fee or registration required for this event.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Hobby Beekeeping
DESCRIPTION:**This event has been rescheduled from its original date of May 14. \nWhether you’re a beekeeper\, bee enthusiast\, or just curious\, you will want to attend this class! Participants will learn about the current issues facing honeybees\, available solutions\, and why they should first consider the well-being of the honeybee when engaging in beekeeping practices. The instructor will take participants through a step-by-step process of understanding the life and work ethic of the most amazing human food producer: the honeybee! \nTopics covered in this one-day workshop will include honeybee biology and behavior\, colony management\, equipment\, and management of pests and diseases. In addition\, the instructor will discuss apiary management and soil health practices to ensure a pollinator-friendly environment. You’ll have a chance to work with live bees and see inside an operating hive. \nTuition: $60/person. \nIf you are a veteran\, you may be eligible to attend educational events for free.
