I just read a nice commentary on your comments in Regina. I have been trying to support this understanding for quite a while and appreciate your articulation on this. It wasn’t clear whether you got into an aspect of this which most interests me at present, the contributions to soil fertility (crop productivity) made by symbiotic endophytes. If you would like to see a chapter that I wrote on this with three cutting-edge microbiology colleagues, in the CRC 2013 yearbook on advances in soil science, edited by Rattan Lal, I would be glad to sent a copy. I have had almost no response from soil scientists, who seem to prefer their predominant focus on soil chemistry, with a secondary focus on soil physics, and a distant third focus on soil biology.
