SUMMARY:Organic Dry Beans: Roller Crimper Research & Market Opportunities Field Walk & Buyer Tour
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, Tuxedo Farms\, in collaboration with Soil Health Services and Rodale Institute\, received funding from Western SARE to research the adaptation of organic no-till systems on Colorado’s Western Slope. Building on that work\, the farm was awarded a USDA Agricultural Marketing Service Organic Market Development Grant (OMDG) in 2024 to establish a certified organic dry bean cleaning and processing facility in Olathe\, Colorado. \nSince receiving the OMDG award\, the project has made significant progress—from conducting market research and engaging regional buyers to purchasing key processing equipment and advancing plans for the facility. These efforts are helping lay the foundation for expanded organic dry bean processing capacity and stronger regional markets for growers. \nJoin us for a Field Walk & Buyer Tour to see the project in action. Lunch will be provided. \nWhat can participants expect?\nEnjoy a casual morning featuring updates on the Western SARE and OMDG projects\, a tour of tilled and organic no-till dry bean field trials\, a look at the progress toward the new processing facility\, and opportunities to connect with buyers\, farmers\, and project partners. There will be plenty of time for discussion\, questions\, and networking. \nWho should attend?\nEveryone is welcome! We especially encourage prospective\, transitioning\, and certified organic grain and dry bean growers\, as well as buyers\, food businesses\, and others interested in strengthening Colorado’s regional organic grain and dry bean economy. \nDetails\nDate: Friday\, September 18\, 2026\, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm MDT \nLocation: \nMeet at Tuxedo Farms Cooler at 59751 David Rd.\, Olathe\, CO 81425 United States + Google Map \nView Venue Website \nMeet at Producers Coop for the presentation\, buyer/seller mixer\, and lunch at 11:30am at 2001 Melanie Lane Olathe\, CO 81425 \nGoogle Map https://www.google.com/maps/dir//2001+Melanie+Ln\,+Olathe\,+CO+81425/data=!4m6!4m5!1m1!4e2!1m2!1m1!1s… \nCost: FREE \nRegistration \n\n \n \n Organic Dry Beans: Roller Crimper Research & Market Opportunities Field Walk & Buyer Tour\n Register for our 9/18/2026 Organic Dry Beans: Roller Crimper Research & Market Opportunities Field Walk & Buyer Tour. 9 am - 12 pm MST. \n \n NameThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone NumberState*AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingZip/Postal Code*Farm or Organization NameI am a...*\n \n \n Farmer/Producer\n \n \n \n Processor/Handler\n \n \n \n Buyer\n \n \n \n Other\n This field is hidden when viewing the formHIDDEN Lead Status\n Register \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nCompleting this form automatically signs you up for electronic communications from Rodale Institute. SUMMARY:Nutrient Dense Food: What Farmers Are Measuring and How They're Selling It
DESCRIPTION:A farmer’s guide to measuring and communicating nutrient density.\nFor decades\, farmers working with healthy soil have known something is different about their food — more flavor\, better animal health\, crops that seem more resilient. But translating that intuition into something measurable\, communicable\, and commercially valuable has remained out of reach. \nThis panel brings together leading researchers and experienced farmers to close that gap. Drawing on emerging science around soil biology and nutrient density measurement\, the conversation will focus on what farmers can actually observe\, track\, and share — and what that means for the future of quality-focused agriculture. Whether you are just beginning to think about nutrient density or already measuring it\, this session is designed to give you practical insight and language to take back to your farm and your buyers. \nPresenters:\nAndrew Smith – Chief Science Officer\, Rodale Institute \nAnne Bikle – Biologist\, Author “What Your Food Ate” \nBrita Lundberg – 4th Generation Farmer & Communications Manager\, Lundberg Family Farms \nLael Gerhart – Engagement Leader\, Frog Hollow Farm \nThis event is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP). \nDetails\nDate: September 30\, 2026 2:00 – 2:00 p.m. EST \nLocation:\nVirtual\, via Zoom \nCost: FREE \nRegistration\n\n \n \n Nutrient Dense Food: What Farmers Are Measuring and How They're Selling It\n Register for our 9/30/2026 Nutrient Dense Food: What Farmers Are Measuring and How They're Selling It. 12:30 pm -1:30 pm EST. \n \n NameThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone NumberState*AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingZip/Postal Code*Farm or Organization NameI am a...*\n \n \n Farmer/Producer\n \n \n \n Processor/Handler\n \n \n \n Buyer\n \n \n \n Other\n This field is hidden when viewing the formHIDDEN Lead Status\n Register \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nCompleting this form automatically signs you up for electronic communications from Rodale Institute.
