The position is responsible for coordinating the St. Luke’s Rodale Institute Organic Farm CSA program through St. Luke’s Employee Wellness department.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Work with the Farm Manager to coordinate the St. Luke’s Rodale Institute Organic Farm’s CSA program
  • Assist the Farm Manager, Assistant Manager, and Pack House Operations team at the St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson Campus on a daily basis
  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Use tractor to prepare fields for planting
  • Assist with weed, disease, and pest management
  • Assist with crop cultivation and processing
  • Share watering and irrigation responsibilities
  • Work with Farm Manager to execute greenhouse production
  • Complete and follow Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) implemented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
  • Help Farm Manager and Assistant Manager to uphold Organic Certification
  • Support the farm’s growing schedule and meet with Organic Farm Manager frequently to ensure planting of crops are sufficient and meet all organic certifications
  • Educate and train interns to carry out the day-to-day activities of the operation
  • Work with Farm Manager and Assistant Manager to create pick lists for CSA Shares
  • Coordinate CSA harvest and packing with Pack House Operations team
  • Work with Farm Manager to write weekly CSA newsletters
  • Assist with building infrastructure
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Can express ideas clearly and professionally through CSA newsletters
  • Hard worker and commitment to raising regenerative organic foods
  • Incredibly organized, attentive to detail, ability to work independently, multi-task, and be a team player
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must be prompt, responsible, and focused
  • Ability to follow directions, problem solving skills, and common sense preferred
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable with public speaking

Education and/or experience:

  • Preferred BA/BS in agriculture-related field
  • At least two years of experience in vegetable production and/or CSA production and distribution
