SUMMARY:Webinar: Can Organic Dairy Meet Science-Based Climate Goals?
DESCRIPTION:The Science-Based Targets Initiative is the leading framework for corporate climate action\, used by over 10\,000 companies globally\, including some of the world’s biggest dairy brands. But the details behind corporate climate plans are rarely shared publicly\, so it can be hard to evaluate the science behind a science-based target. In this webinar\, we use data from a fast-growing organic yogurt company\, Painterland Sisters\, to assess the feasibility of meeting science-based targets for organic dairy. We show that SBTi’s “near term” targets are readily achievable for organic dairy. But SBTi’s “long term” net-zero targets appear to be currently unfeasible. We share some alternative long-term ideas for climate and dairy\, including “fossil fuel free” dairy and separate goals for methane and other greenhouse gases. \nPanelists will include:\nFranklin Egan and Matty Rotman\, Painterland Sisters \nSage Dennis\, Rodale Institute \nRegistration\n\n \n URLThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Zip/Postal Code*\n Register \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nCompleting this form signs you up for electronic communications from Rodale Institute. SUMMARY:Rye Working Group - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Rodale Institute’s Markets team is convening a Rye Working Group focused on developing diverse markets for organic rye. \nSeveral significant rye initiatives already exist. Rather than duplicate them\, our intention is to uplift the work already underway\, increase shared learning\, identify new opportunities\, and explore strategies that require more coordination than any one organization can achieve alone. Rodale is convening and facilitating this group to support moving this work forward together. \nWhile this working group focuses on rye\, we recognize it is part of addressing a larger systemic need to build markets for the winter grains that make up healthy organic cropping rotations. \nThis working group intends to bring together growers\, processors\, millers\, distillers\, brand buyers\, breeders\, and researchers from across the rye supply system to coordinate efforts\, share market intelligence\, and find concrete ways to grow demand for organic rye. \nWe will be hosting two introductory meetings (September 14 and September 28) where we will share: \n– Introductions and a chance to hear what everyone’s already working on \n– The working group’s purpose and scope \n– Systemic challenges and opportunities for rye markets \nIn Session 3 (October 5)\, we will get to work on collective action. \nConveners:  \nWill Glazik\, Rodale Institute \nBridget Gilmore\, Rodale Institute \nRachel Kastner\, reNourish Studio \nLauren Tucker\, reNourish Studio \n Join us for Session 2 \n Join us for Session 3 \nThis event is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). SUMMARY:Organic Pricing Data: Where to Find It and What New Research Reveals about Access
DESCRIPTION:What resources report on organic pricing and what are the gaps in this data? \nPublic price and sales reports have helped level the playing field between buyers and sellers of all sizes. As agricultural information becomes increasingly privatized and markets more concentrated\, that public data is more important than ever for a fair\, stable organic sector. Join researcher Katie Butterfield (UC Davis)\, as she shares findings from her new peer-reviewed article\, Improving USDA’s Public Price and Volume Data for an Equitable Organic Food Value Chain\, along with the broader work behind it. \nHere’s what to expect: \n– Where to access organic pricing data as a farmer. \n– What the research found: interviews and surveys with organic producers\, processors\, distributors\, and retailers about how price and volume data can better serve them. \n– Why access matters: many farmers don’t have the resources to purchase private data sources\, and improving public data access\, especially smaller markets\, is one of the clearest ways to close that gap. \nThis session is for transitioning and organic farmers\, buyers\, supply chain actors\, researchers\, and advocates who want to understand what’s happening to organic acreage and pricing transparency and how better data can support a more equitable organic value chain. \nThis event is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP). \nDetails\nDate: September 21\, 2026 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EST \nLocation:\nVirtual\, via Zoom \nCost: FREE \nRegistration\n\n \n \n 09/21/2026 Organic Pricing Data: Where to Find It and What New Research Reveals about Access\n September 21\, 2026\, 2:00-3:00 PM EDT \n \n NameThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Zip/Postal Code*\n Register \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nCompleting this form automatically signs you up for electronic communications from Rodale Institute. SUMMARY:Nutrient Dense Food: What Farmers Are Measuring and How They're Selling It
DESCRIPTION:A farmer’s guide to measuring and communicating nutrient density.\nFor decades\, farmers working with healthy soil have known something is different about their food — more flavor\, better animal health\, crops that seem more resilient. But translating that intuition into something measurable\, communicable\, and commercially valuable has remained out of reach. \nThis panel brings together leading researchers and experienced farmers to close that gap. Drawing on emerging science around soil biology and nutrient density measurement\, the conversation will focus on what farmers can actually observe\, track\, and share — and what that means for the future of quality-focused agriculture. Whether you are just beginning to think about nutrient density or already measuring it\, this session is designed to give you practical insight and language to take back to your farm and your buyers. \nPresenters:\nAndrew Smith – Chief Science Officer\, Rodale Institute \nAnne Bikle – Biologist\, Author “What Your Food Ate” \nBrita Lundberg – 4th Generation Farmer & Communications Manager\, Lundberg Family Farms \nLael Gerhart – Engagement Leader\, Frog Hollow Farm \nThis event is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP). \nDetails\nDate: September 30\, 2026 2:00 – 2:00 p.m. EST \nLocation:\nVirtual\, via Zoom \nCost: FREE \nRegistration\n\n \n \n Nutrient Dense Food: What Farmers Are Measuring and How They're Selling It\n Register for our 9/30/2026 Nutrient Dense Food: What Farmers Are Measuring and How They're Selling It. 12:30 pm -1:30 pm EST. \n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone NumberState*AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingZip/Postal Code*Farm or Organization NameI am a...*\n \n \n Farmer/Producer\n \n \n \n Processor/Handler\n \n \n \n Buyer\n \n \n \n Other\n HIDDEN Lead Status\n Register \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nCompleting this form automatically signs you up for electronic communications from Rodale Institute. SUMMARY:Rye Working Group - Session 3
\nConveners:  \nWill Glazik\, Rodale Institute \nBridget Gilmore\, Rodale Institute \nRachel Kastner\, reNourish Studio \nLauren Tucker\, reNourish Studio \nThis event is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). SUMMARY:Webinar: Building Soil Health and Nutrient Efficiency in Regenerative Organic Systems
DESCRIPTION:Rodale Institute’s Soil Nutrient Management Program advances regenerative organic farming by strengthening soil health and improving nutrient use to support crop productivity. Using locally sourced inputs such as compost\, poultry litter\, and biochar\, the program focuses on building soil organic matter\, improving nutrient cycling\, and enhancing soil structure and biological activity. This work addresses ongoing challenges in organic systems\, including yield gaps\, nutrient inefficiencies\, and weed pressure under changing climate conditions. Learn more in a webinar on September 02\, 2026\, presented by Dr. Dinesh Panday\, who leads the Soil Nutrient Management Program. \nRegistration\n\n \n InstagramThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Zip/Postal Code*\n Register \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nCompleting this form signs you up for electronic communications from Rodale Institute.
