SUMMARY:Introduction to Effortless Meditation™ with Greg Schweitzer
DESCRIPTION:Feeling stressed\, anxious\, or depressed\, or do you have difficulty getting restful sleep? Relief is not far away. Teacher and wellness coach Greg Schweitzer will provide a free introduction to his Effortless Meditation™ (EM) course\, where he’ll discuss the impact chronic stress has on people’s physical\, mental\, and emotional health. He’ll also examine the role of EM as an antidote to these influences. This introduction will include many real-life examples of how this meditation practice has improved the quality of people’s lives. Light refreshments will be available for attendees. \nSchweitzer trained and worked with well-known author and alternative medicine pioneer Deepak Chopra\, MD. He has been teaching meditation for more than 40 years and is bringing his introduction class to Rodale Institute for the first time. \nThere is no fee for attending this event\, but Rodale Institute welcomes donations. Joao DaCosta\, owner of Lehigh Fine Foods in Bethlehem\, will lead an engaging discussion on this ever-popular food\, explaining the concept of bean-to-bar chocolate and the differences between bean-to-bar and industrial varieties. DaCosta\, who travels around the world to locate premium fair trade and organic food products—from olive oil to chocolate\, tea\, and coffee—will also examine how chocolate is grown\, both in eco-forestry and organic systems\, and how these different methods influence flavor. SUMMARY:Healing Through Nature Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Farm yoga\, anyone? Rodale Institute is pairing up with yoga instructor Elizabeth Kawa to offer a yoga event designed to soothe mind\, body\, and soul and promote healing through nature. This session will start with a 60-minute beginner yoga class followed by a light refreshment and discussion. The group will then spend some time in quiet contemplation while participating in seasonal volunteer work and taking a peaceful stroll of the farm. Lastly\, participants will wind down with a 30-minute meditation and sound healing session. \nParticipants should bring a yoga mat\, appropriate shoes for work on the farm\, and a reusable drinking container. \nPlease note that this is a rain-or-shine event that will take place outside in ideal weather or light rain; in case of hard rain\, the event will be held in Rodale Institute’s theater\, located next to the Garden Store. \nAttendance limit: 40 people \nCost: There is no fee for attending this event\, but Rodale Institute welcomes donations. Contributions toward this season’s classes will help fund Rodale Institute’s Honeybee Conservancy\, which is dedicated to researching colony collapse disorder and finding ways to aid the health and well-being of honeybees\, so vital to the nation’s food supply.
