Organic food better for fighting disease

 
A Newcastle University (UK) study appears to confirm a growing body of information that organic food is more nutritious than food grown with synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
 
The key may lie in the synergistic effects of antioxidants and phytonutrients (aka micronutrients), compounds that fight cancer, heart disease and age-related ailments.
 
The four-year study—the most extensive to date—appears to confirm what other studies are bearing out: Organically grown food is not only better for you because it’s not sprayed with poison—it’s just plain better for you. A variety of produce studied was shown to contain up to 40-percent higher levels of antioxidants when grown organically.
