Italiana per l'Agricoltura Biologica: Organic and ethnic
restaurants are gaining more of Italian diner’s income, according
to the results of a consumer behavior report from Demoskopea, an
Italian market research institute. While traditional fare still
is the overwhelming preference, 66 percent of Italian diners list
it as the meal of choice, organic and ethnic cuisines are commanding
a rising share of the market (11%).
The survey also indicated that the restaurant sector as a whole
has also experienced growth posting a 35% increase this year. Consumer
habits questions revealed: twelve percent of Italians eat out at
least 4 times a week. Italians have dinner in pizzerias, but restaurants
remain their favorite for lunch.
