Farm Photo Friday: January 24, 2014

Every Friday we share some snaps from our 333-acres in Kutztown, PA. Our photographers? The staff members who keep this farm chugging along. Enjoy a sneak peek at what’s going on here at Rodale Institute!

The oxen-team-in-training, Lewis and Clark, enjoy the warmth of a beautiful sunrise in the crisp winter air this morning.

Zorro, Iris, Daisy and Rose, the Nigerian Dwarf goats, must have heard from Lewis and Clark what a particularly beautiful sunrise it was.  They went to check it out too, but Zorro’s blocking the view!

Nothing beats a good healthy organic breakfast on these cold winter mornings!  Here, some of the Large Blacks are chowing down on theirs.  Hey, you’ve got a little something on your snout there…

Here is Tammy the Tamworth with her piglets; now just a few weeks old.  We were immediately impressed with how curious and friendly they were not long after they were born.  During today’s visit, they just wanted to play!

Until it was time to eat, that is.  Tammy rests contently while the piglets enjoy their breakfast.

One of the more mischievous youngsters decides to try and ‘photo bomb’ a nice picture of his mom.  Hey little guy, don’t ‘hog’ all the attention!

Ross Duffield, Farm Manager, gets quite a bit of attention from the chickens this morning.  You could even say they ‘flock’ to him.

Some would say it’s just that they know who feeds them, but Ross knows it’s more than that.  They’re attracted to his good humor and positive attitude!

Molly Sweitzer, Marketing & Sales Specialist, is clipping the flowers from the geraniums in the greenhouse to encourage more ‘green growth’ so that we will have lush, beautiful plants at our 2-Day Cold Crop Plant Sale in April.

Here Jeff Moyer, Farm Director, and Ross are repairing the stirrer (near Jeff’s left hand) in the grain bin.  Just another day at the office!

Don’t forget… Show your organic love!
