Every Friday we share some snaps from our 333-acres in Kutztown, PA. Our photographers? The staff members who keep this farm chugging along. Enjoy a sneak peek at what’s going on here at Rodale Institute!
Here comes Cynthia the Cycling Fiddler to serenade the apple pickers who will be hard at work in the orchard this morning.
These apples grew from a 23 year old tree which yields about 1 to 1 ½ bushels per year. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that each tree grows from just one seed!
While Cynthia provides the enchanting soundtrack, Rodale workers are off among the trees, collecting the fruits of Don Janci’s hard work in the orchard.
Of course we had the A-Team ready today (A is for apple, by the way…). But you’d better believe we had our Bee-Team out in full force as well! (Left to Right: Chris Sacelaris, David Schmeiser, ‘Coach’ Mark Smallwood & Aimee Jo Bartholomew)
Sam Moll has no reservations about sampling the goods to assure only the best quality – wink wink…
A sampling of today’s apple harvest! If you want in on the fun, be sure to join us on September 21 for the Organic Apple Festival here at the Rodale Institute!
Please don’t forget to share the organic love!
