The 2010 Rodale Institute FFA Video Contest
“Benefits of a sustainable food system.”
Your imagination, a clear idea about sustainably growing and supplying food, and a video camera are all you need to get started in the quest for our $1,000 first prize. Use your creativity to show your friends and family how to become better stewards of the land by submitting a 2-minute video highlighting the benefits of developing a sustainable food system.
Focus on sustainable practices in farming and food production, referencing soil health, water quality, nutritional content of fresh food, climate change and other attributes that improve the natural resources and human elements involved.
The contest is open to high-school FFA chapter members enrolled in vocational agriculture programs.
Official Rules
1. Eligibility: Entrants must be high school students and current FFA members.
2. Format: Entries are accepted in video format only and submitted as QuickTime/MOV, WMV, MPEG or AVI files.
3. Location and Deadline: Entries must be uploaded to the Rodale Institute group site by 12:00am EST on May 1, 2010.
4. Registration: Entrants must register here
prior to submitting their video
5. Evaluation Procedure: Three winning videos will be selected on the following basis:
- Creativity and originality
- Overall quality of the presentation
- Technical accuracy of content
- Persuasiveness of the message
Final judging and selection of three national winners will be made by an expert panel. Results will be announced at www.rodaleinstitute.org on June 1, 2009.
6. Awards: Winners will receive a cash scholarship prize as follows:
- 1st Place - $1000
- 2nd Place - $500
- 3rd Place - $250
The three winning videos will be featured on the Rodale Institute’s websites and other related electronic media. Entries cannot be acknowledged or returned, and they become the property of the Rodale Institute. The Institute reserves the right to use any or all entries for promotional purpose.
