SLIDESHOW: (Post)harvest Festival

Chris Blanchard of Rock Springs Farm was one of two vegetable-producer hosts for the recent postharvest handling workshops sponsored by the Iowa Fruit and Vegetable Working Group.

Food safety starts in the field, and continues through every phase of postharvest handling, he said. Rock Springs produces organic vegetables and flowers on 15 acres, including high tunnels, and markets through a CSA and to retail outlets.
