Farm wildflowers prime habitat for wildlife, study concludes

Planting wildflowers such as yarrow, knapweed, and birds-foot trefoil are best for farms, says new research conducted by British ecologists.  The flowers offer a better habitat for birds and other animals that contribute to a more ecologically diverse farm, and encourage helpful insects and predators (think barn owls).

Hedgerows are also recommended to provide nesting for the animals—especially along watercourses, where they can add to water quality.
