Poor nations already suffering from climate change impacts

A letter entitled “Worried about climate change? We live with it already,” is published in The Independent. Written by partners of Christian Relief and Tearfund, representatives from the Evangelical Association of Malawi, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, the director of JEMED in Niger and the director of programmes of EFICOR, India, it highlights the UN climate summit in Pozan, Poland which concludes on Friday and comments that when it finishes, the environment ministers and senior government representatives, who have been in attendance, are likely to return to “business as usual” in their own countries. But due to the impact of climate change, business as usual in the countries the authors represent means low food production and the destruction of land, society and culture.
