Obesity and sensitivity to bitter tastes linked
This study found a link between obesity in children and sensitivity to bitter tastes. In order to test the connection, researchers studied 81 Head-Start students by recording their weight, and deciding whether they could taste the bitter compound 6-n-propylthiouracil (PROP), among other variables. They found that those who could taste the PROP “had significantly higher BMI z-scores.” Full story: Obesity
