Eating tilapia could be more harmful than helpful

Farm-raised tilapia one of America’s most commonly eaten fish, but a recent study from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine has concluded that is it not as good for us as we might think. The study found that the fish is low in omega-3 fatty acids and high in omega-6 fatty acids, a combination that could be dangerous for people with a number of health problems including heart disease and asthma. Meanwhile, patients are being advised to eat more fish “and if the patients are poor, they’re eating tilapia” without being aware that it could hurt them, according to the study.
