Canadians push for ban on cosmetic pesticides

Resistance to pesticide use for purely aesthetic reasons has increased in recent years as people have become more aware of pesticide safety. Citizens of Calgary, Alberta, have asked for a ban on such use. A survey by the Canadian Cancer Society “found 87 per cent of Albertans support community bylaws banning the cosmetic use of pesticides.” If the ban is passed, it will be the first of its kind west of Ontario.
