Food delivery more efficient than individual pickup
A new study performed by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture tried to determine whether farmer delivery or customer pick-up of food is more fuel efficient. The study had an Iowa CSA farmer report the routes and types of vehicles his shareholders used to pick up their produce. Researchers found that a farmer delivering food to individual homes uses less fuel than each driver coming to him. According to the article, this would be the case even if each individual drove a hybrid compact car. Full story: Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture
