Big seed companies threaten small farmers and food security
Small organic farmers like Heather Meek and partner Frederic Sauriol are resisting pressure to buy genetically modified (GM) seeds from big corporations. Instead of saving seeds from year to year, conventional farmers purchase GM seeds from companies like Monsanto. These companies force their customers into contracts so that the farmers have to buy new seeds each year instead of saving them.
